Enrollment at the school averages 400 students a semester. Since 1949, she has been director of the Stella Adler Theater Studio in Man hattan, which also sponsors summer classes in Los Angeles. Stella Adler has had a 75th birthday party every year for the past four or five.

Fisher’s film credits include Titanic, Unforgiven, True Crime, The Big Tease, Jolene and Woman in Gold, among countless others. A member of the Actors Studio, her first acting teacher was the legendary Stella Adler. Frances Fisher began her career at Virginia’s Barter Theatre, then spent 14 years in New York’s Off Broadway theaters and in regional theater, with credits including Elia Kazan’s The Chain, Hay Fever, 1984, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Arthur Miller’s last play Finishing the Picture, Three More Sleepless Nights (Drama League Award), Fool for Love, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Desire Under the Elms, and the Mark Taper Forum’s The Cherry Orchard.
